Ministry opportunities abound in the weeks ahead. Plan now to make our Tailgate Sunday a great day of outreach as we invite others to join us on this high attendance day. Don't forget to write down the names and addresses of those visiting in Sunday School that we might add them to the GROW list. By the way, I hope you are doing that every Sunday someone visits in your class. Let's see if we can top last years record attendance of 576, on September 13.
You won't want to miss the presentation by our Ad-hoc and Long Range Planning Committees on Wednesday evening, Sept. 16. This presentation will include property usage, building needs, ministry opportunities, and vision. A visual presentation will be made and the floor will be open for discussion.
Join with others from our Bowen Baptist Association on the 19th of September to go door-to-door in Bainbridge with the Gospel of our Lord. We will host this event on that morning and folks will be sent out in not less than groups of two. Don=t worry if you are uncomfortable talking, you can pray, write, and be supportive of those who will be sharing. This is in keeping with the Association's Operation Total Contact.
God has blessed us with much and much is expected of us. Together we can do great things for God. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Paul

AMAZING GRACE MOVIE
THE STORY OF HOW ONE MAN STOOD AGAINST TYRANNY AND SAVED THE LIFE OF MILLIONS.
This movie is the story of William Wilberforce, a member of the British Parliament, who devoted his life to the abolition of slavery. His friend and acquaintance was the Rev. John Newton, former slave-trader.
John Newton, best know as the author of the hymn Amazing Grace wrote his own epitaph:
John Newton, Clerk
Once an infidel and libertine,
A servant of slaves in Africa:
Was by the rich mercy of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Preserved, restored, pardoned,
And appointed to preach the Faith
He had labored long to destroy.
Near sixteen years at Olney in Bucks;
And twenty-seven in this church.
His title for the hymn wasn't originally Amazing Grace, but Faith's Review and Expectation.
It is based on Newton's study of 1 Chronicles 17:16-17: King David. . . said: Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far? And yet . . . You have spoken of Your servant=s house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the rank of a man of high degree.
Join us in our Sanctuary, Sunday night at 5:30 PM for the presentation of Amazing Grace.

Due to the Labor Day Weekend our AWANA Ministry will not meet this Sunday evening September 6. Well will resume all activities on Sunday September 13.
I challenge all Sunday School Classes from Preschool up to our Senior Adults to encourage and invite all those who we know that are not already involved in Sunday School in our community. Sunday, September 13 will be the day that God will move in His church to a new plateau in ministry. The goal this year is for each Sunday School class to see what percentage of their total enrollment they can reach on this day. For instance, if a class has a total enrollment of 20 and they have 18 present they would have had 90% of their enrollment present. The class with the highest percentage of their total enrollment will be recognized in the 11:00 worship hour. Remember, the goal is to get people into the house of God to hear and to experience His word, love, mercy, and the fellowship of God=s people. Actually, this should be our goal every Sunday don't you think!

Date: Wednesday September 9
Time: 7-7:45 p.m.
Location: Shell Annex Room 103
All Sunday School teachers and workers are asked to please be at this meeting.
Labor Day Holiday
We will not be having some of our regular scheduled groups this Sunday because of the holiday. These are the things that are canceled because of Labor Day:
Shockwave, 5th and 6th Grade Bible Study, and SNAC.
We will start all of these back at their regular times next week.
Prayer Breakfast
There will be a middle school prayer breakfast on Tuesday mornings starting Tues. Sept. 7th. We will meet at Burger King at 7 a.m. to eat and to have a little devotion. We will drop the kids off at school around 7:50 so that they can be there in time for school to start.
High Attendance Tailgate Sunday
The youth have decided to try and get 80 people in Sunday School on this day. I encourage you to invite all of your friends and make sure to be here on that day.
5th Quarter
Thank you to all those who gave food or helped with the 5th Quarter this year. It was a fun time and that was because of the people who helped support it. The next 5th Quarter Sept. 18th at Fellowship.
-Remember to sign-up for YEC in the youth room on Wednesdays or Sunday.
In Christ,
Al
