The regular quarterly conference of First Baptist Church was held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. This was an exciting conference as our church voted to enter into phase one of a long range plan for the facilities here. This phase consists of paying off the current indebtedness of the educational building renovation; the exchange of property with the city of Bainbridge; and the seeking to close Clay Street as it runs through our property.
The city of Bainbridge agreed in their regular City Council meeting this past Tuesday to the land exchange. Money is already in the city budget to put a parking lot on their acquired property. The closing of Clay Street is moving forward. We will go through the proper procedures to seek to achieve this closing.
The other phase, the paying off of the indebtedness is also moving forward. Thank you to those who made a pledge to accomplish this as quickly as possible. In these tough economic times we need to be faithful to God in our tithe and offerings, and faithful to go beyond that when possible. The sooner we retire this debt the sooner we can move forward in God=s plan for His church.
I want to thank you for your kind words of encouragement this past Sunday. In over thirty years of ministry this was my first Staff Appreciation Sunday. Thank you and know that my family and I are proud to be a part of this wonderful congregation.
I will see you SundayPaul
SAINTS ALIVE
The Saints Alive Choir did an awesome job as they led us in worship last Sunday evening. These seasoned saints still have lots to share. Thanks for working so hard to memorize this song. It really sounded great! We welcome our newest member, Martha Clement, to Saints Alive.
SHOCKWAVE
It was great to have both Davis Wallace and Pearson Martin back home and worshiping with their church family last Sunday. God has truly been working in the lives of these two young men and their families. Thank-you, Shockwave for your touching, inspirational song. It really ministered to everyone present.
SENIOR ADULT PLANNING COUNCIL
We met with our representatives on Wednesday night and will share our decisions in next week=s column.
In the meantime, there was some interest in going to Panama City Beach for a Gospel Dinner Cruise. The possible date of October 22nd is being considered. Group rates are $32.00 per person with Royal City out of Cowarts, AL performing. Sign up in Sunday School this week.
ASSOCIATIONAL SENIOR ADULT LUNCH
The quarterly luncheon will be at FBC Colquitt on Tuesday, October 13th. Contact Art if you are interested in attending.

Note to All Preschool and Children Parents:
This Sunday, our Children's Church time will not be meeting at the 11:00 worship hour. If you have a 4 or 5 year on the Preschool Hall, you will need to pick them up at 10:45 and carry them to Big Church. We will resume next Sunday.

AWANA NEWS!
Because of Fall Break, our AWANA will not meet this Sunday eveing but will resume next Sunday.
Sunday School News
WOW! God is continuing to bless our Sunday School with new faces and families. This means we (teachers and leaders) need to stay on the ball in reaching out to those who are entering the doors of these classes.
I would ask each class to make sure that you get the information of each visitor who comes to your class. There are two reasons for this. First, with the information, the class can make a follow-up with this person or persons. Second, we (the staff) need the information so we can make a visit to this new visitor(s).
Sunday School is meant to be the Outreach Arm of the church. Let us continue to do this very thing.Earl
Hiking at Torreya
We are going hiking at Torreya State Park on Tuesday Oct. 13th. If you would like to go, we will be leaving the church at 9 a.m. There is no cost for this trip. However, please bring a sack lunch for a picnic in the park.
Fields of Faith
Fields of Faith is a peer‑to‑peer ministry event. Students invite their own classmates and teammates to hear fellow students share their testimonies, be challenged to read the Word of God and follow Jesus Christ. An athletic field provides a neutral, interdenominational rally point where a community can come together. Please join us Wed. Oct. 14th for this event. The event is at 6:30 at Centennial Field and will end at 8:00 P.M. There will be food provided. If you need a ride, please be at the church at 6 p.m. We will take a church van.
SMALL GROUP LEADERS
We are going to look at doing some things a little different on Wednesday nights starting in November. If you would be interested in being a Middle or High School Small group leader, please contact Al for more information.
Fall Break
I hope you all enjoy Fall Break. We will not be having any youth activities on Sunday night. No Shockwave, 5th and 6th grade Bible Study or SNAC. All will start back the next week.
