October 14, 2009

I am sitting at my desk on Monday afternoon enjoying the sunshine and warmth of a South Georgia day.  I am also reflecting on the services and attendance yesterday.  The services went well and the music was outstanding as usual.  The sound, lighting, air, and atmosphere were all good.  Overall, God really blessed us again yesterday.

Last night I preached a message from Mark 6, that teaches us that laborers for the Lord need their rest and that too few carry too much of the work load in this and every church.   How wonderful it would be to have everyone participating in the work of God in this place.  How wonderful it would be if each of us remembered that we are here to SERVE THE MASTER and not be served by others.

My thanks to all who filled in for those on Fall Break.  But, beware, if you can fill in, you can teach or lead in what ever service God places you.  There are no substitutes in the Kingdom of God, only first stringers that are in the game.

This Sunday will be another great day of worship and service.  A day when you can be in Service for the Lord and you can truly worship the Lord because you are open to being used by Him.  Like Isaiah we need to say, AHere am I Lord, send me.@

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

We had a great meeting with our newly established Senior Adult Activity Team last Wednesday night. Many great ideas for activities were shared and the events should be fun. Our annual Fall Festival is just around the corner and this is your opportunity to help. Out of all the ministries that First Baptist is involved in, this is one of the most important because of two things: (1) It's a family affair. God's people coming together for some fun fellowship and outreach. Which brings me number (2) OUTREACH. One of the most important aspects of a church is their need for outreach. Matter of fact it is the most important ministry in the church. Without it no other ministry would survive.

So, you are probably asking the question now well, what can I do to help? I'm glad you asked. We need those who would bake a cake or brownies, cookies, etc. We need those who would help set up and take down.  Those who would volunteer to work some of the booths and inflatable for the event. If you see that you can't help in any of these areas but, would like to give a monetary donation, you can do that also.

Remember, October 28 is family night at First Baptist Church. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and goes till 7:30 p.m. with music, food, and all sorts of activities for everyone. So, get out and invite everyone you see to this wonderful event. Hope to see you there!

SHOCKWAVE NEWS

We will be performing this Sunday in the evening worship service.  Please remember to wear jeans and a solid color shirt.  Also join us afterward for SNAC at the Aldridge=s house.  This is a great time to relax and have great fellowship with one another.

SMALL GROUP LEADERS

We are going to look at doing some things a little different on Wednesday nights starting in November.  If you would be interested in being a Middle or High School Small group leader, please contact Al for more information.

         Sunday and Wednesday Activities

We start back with our regular scheduled activities this week after Fall Break and Fields of Faith.  Please join us and bring a friend to all the things we are doing in this youth group.

                            Note from Al

On Wednesday nights we have been discussing tradition vs. relationship.  Is God really important to you?  We have looked at the idea that if Christ is real in your life then you would tell people.  My question to you is, are you telling people?  If not, why not?
