The Builder
May 19, 2010

Mike Harland and Stan Moser wrote a book entitled, ASeven Words of Worship.@ Those seven words are,
ASOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENS WHEN WE WORSHIP TOGETHER!@ This is a truth!
Great things happen when the people of God come together to worship and praise Him.
Every aspect of worship is important. From the prelude that prepares our hearts for worship to the ending prayer that encourages us to go out and be the people of God, God speaks to our hearts. Although we have worship leaders, worship is a participatory event. We become involved in worship in our singing, giving, praying, and listening.
True worship takes place when we take what God has said to us and apply in our lives as we go out to meet a lost and dying world.
People who seem to get nothing out of worship usually are putting nothing into their worship experience.
First Baptist Church is blessed to have wonderful musicians, a great choir, and tremendous soloist. The worship act of giving is included in our service along with time for prayer and reflection. The Word of God is proclaimed for the pulpit of First Baptist. All the elements to have a great worship experience is here. All that is left is your participation.
Come this Sunday expecting to participate in worship. Come expecting God to bless you and us. Come and worship with your family and friends. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Paul

CHILDREN=S CHOIRS SHARING SERVICE
Will be this Sunday night at 6:30 P.M. We will hear a special presentation of music from each of our choirs of children aged 3-5th grade. This is always a precious time in the life of First Baptist Church as these children share their songs and what they have learned in choir this year. Thanks for encouraging your child to include Christian music as a part of their spiritual growth here at FBC.
SAINTS ALIVE CONCERT @ WILLOW RIDGE
Last Monday morning, the residents of Willow Ridge Assisted Living Facility enjoyed the beautiful sounds of our Saints Alive Choir as they ministered. The residents hummed, clapped and sang along as we led them. Thanks to Newana Williams, our accompanist, and all the great singers who have worked so hard this year. One resident even complemented the group by saying that you were the best choir she had ever heard. Monday was our last concert and rehearsal of the spring. We will share a AMini Concert@ one Sunday night in June. Watch this column for further details.
CHANCEL CHOIR
We=re continuing to prepare for our Memorial Day and July 4th Patriotic services. Join us!
HANDBELL CHOIR REMINDER
A note to remind all bell ringers that we will be meeting before the 8:30 service this Sunday as we will play for both services.
