The Builder
December 9, 2009
Through the ingathering service this past Sunday morning we received $10,808.90 toward our goal of $20,000 for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Foreign Missions. Thank you for your gifts. We will be receiving this offering throughout the end of the year and encourage those who were not able to give last Sunday to do so, if possible. I believe we can meet our goal.
Some folks have been asking me and others if it is wrong to use Xmas in the place of Christmas. The term wrong may not be the correct term. For me it is not a matter of right or wrong but a statement of faith. When I shorten my greeting to an AX@ I am also saying that I am willing to shorten my commitment to Christ. When I write AChristmas@ I am giving a testimony of not only what the season is about but also my personal belief that Christ is important in word and deed. MY preference is to use AChristmas@ instead of any shortened form.
Now, a second thought: there are many holidays celebrated during this time of the year. Although I recognize the worth and value of these days, they are not the one I am celebrating. I am celebrating the birth of Jesus. The Christ Mass, worship of the KING,
the holy day of His incarnation. Therefore, I will only wish those around me a Merry Christmas, for that is what I am celebrating.
Come and celebrate with me this Sunday. I will look for you.
Paul

Also, on December 17 we will take a mystery trip to an undisclosed location for some fun and fellowship. We will pick up each youth at school on that evening. If parents have any questions about anything else please fill free to contact Bro. Earl, Karen Ragan, or Judy Franklin.
Being Proud!
As a parent I think back on the accomplishments of my children and how proud I was of them. From the time they took their first step to their college graduations. For both of them it took hard work, dedication, and a will to succeed.
Last Sunday afternoon Wanda and I attended the performance of the Nutcracker. It was an excellent performance by everyone who participated. What really impressed me was as I looked at the list of those participating there where over twenty children and teenagers from FBC. Well, I just have to say it, I was like a PROUD PARENT of each one. To each one of you who work so hard and spent long hours in rehearsals, it paid off.
We as a church have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you for your support of our children and youth ministries. Let=s all keep up the great work of Christ.
