The Builder

April 14, 2010

Thank you for your many kind expressions of sympathy in the passing of my sister.  Your gifts, cards, and words brought comfort and showed your genuine love and concern.  JoRene, Emily, and I deeply appreciate all you have done.

Word has come form Mary Lynn White that three more believers were baptized in our primary village in West Africa.  She and our missionary journeyman, along with the driver and a villager have shared the gospel in several villages around them.  Mary Lynn is emphasizing to the villagers the need to reproduce believers on their own.  Our goal is to see that the Gospel is spread after our leaving.  Pray for Mary Lynn and the new believers.  I am looking forward to her report.

Our goal here is to teach others,  to spread the Gospel and ensure that the work of Christ continues in this place.  THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH  IS TO TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS.  We are not here to swap members, entertain, debate, or impress.

The mission, goal, purpose, whatever you want to call it, has not changed from the great commission Christ gave to each of us and to His Church collectively.

First Baptist Church should be first in this community in spreading the Gospel.  As one friend put it, AFirst Baptist should be the flagship church in Bainbridge.@  I agree.  Together we can make a difference.

Who have you told about Jesus this week?

See you Sunday,

Paul

APRIL FELLOWSHIP CLUB MEETING

Our April meeting was a great success as we hosted the Bowen Baptist Association=s quarterly Senior Adult Meeting. Benita Stephens sang 6 beautiful selections and really ministered to everyone present. We had a great crowd of about 80. A special word of thanks to those great servants who came early to prepare the food and the room and to all who stayed late to clean the kitchen & Fellowship Hall so well. I=m grateful to each of you who brought so much good food.

The May Fellowship Club Meeting will be our annual >Picnic in the Park=. This is the special event where we meet at the river, enjoy our covered dish and fried chicken lunch and see the sights by pontoon boat. Bring a friend and join us at noon, Monday, May 3 as we conclude our great year of activities in the Fellowship Club.

SENIOR ADULT ACTIVITIES

At the last meeting, decisions were made to have the following activities:

1.)        Trip to the Explorations in Antiquity Center, LaGrange, GA in May. After speaking to many of the Sunday School Class Representatives, the consensus is to go on the Guided/Escorted tour with full 4 course Biblical Meal. The cost for this will be  $30.00 plus a $5 bus fee for a total of $35. Look at this column next week for the date and times of the trip in May.

2.)        Trip to Wakulla Springs (early June)

3.)        Dinner outing to Emerald Lake RV Resort (July)

F.A.Q.

We all know the section of websites that have frequently asked questions, and now is a time for our youth to do the same.  The next couple Wednesday nights we will answer the youth=s questions.  Students can ask their questions in many different avenues and then we will try to answer as many as possible on Wednesday nights.  These questions need to be limited to Biblical questions and questions related to our walk with God.  You can e-mail me, text me, or post on our Facebook site the questions that you would like answered.
