The Builder

February 20, 2009

The events of this past week have reminded me of what is really important in life on this earth.  Family and health are the greatest possessions we have.  All the things of this world cannot compare to the gift God gives us in both of these.  I am thankful to Him for my family and our health.

I am also thankful for a loving and caring church family.  Thank you for your concern and care during our recent accident.  Once again I can say with the Apostle Paul, AI thank God upon every remembrance of you.

Now to the task at hand.  Our men in the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group have expressed a concern and a need for a men's ministry in our church that is focused on ministry.  They have already agreed to a ministry project that they will be doing.  I want to encourage all of our men to come together and get involved in local church ministries.  There is more to service than fellowship.  You can begin by joining us on Tuesday mornings for prayer at 7am.  You will be out before 8am.  Also, in the days ahead we will be sharing project ideas for our men.        I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

Paul

SUNDAY'S CHOIR ANTHEM

A word of thanks to each of you who shared what a blessing the Chancel Choir's anthem Thou, O Lord was to you. Some had doubts we could even sing this piece, but because each singer gave 100%, God was glorified. Thanks for showing the choir some love.

SAINTS ALIVE

Saints Alive Choir will share special music at Willow Ridge Assisted Living next Monday morning. Meet at 10:15 (car pool if you can), and park in the back. I will bring everyone=s music. After the concert, we'll do lunch.

BARACA MEN

The BARACA men were a real blessing last Sunday evening as they shared the song Precious Memories. This talented group of fellows bless passers by each Sunday morning at 9:45 as their class  breaks out in song. Thanks for a job well done, men.

Teens who had at least one adult from church make a significant time investment in their lives also were more likely to keep attending church. More of those who stayed in church B by a margin of 46 percent to 28 percent B said five or more adults at church had invested time with them personally and spiritually.

ADVANCE "The Bible teaches that older women should mentor and invest their lives in younger women. Clearly, this holds true for both of the sexes," Stetzer said. "When adults pour their lives into young adults, both are better for it."

ADVANCE Meaningful relationships with adults at church helps teenagers see church as a place they belong, McConnell said.

Investment time in young people lives out the love of Jesus Christ in a tangible way," he said. "It proves that a young person belongs at church. It can help connect the dots to help a teen integrate their faith into their life. And it gives the teen a connection to church after graduation when many of their peers are no longer around.

Anybody wondering if they can make a difference can stop wondering," McConnell noted. "One Sunday school teacher, one chaperone, one discussion leader, one person at church who clearly cares can impact the course of a teen's spiritual journey."

-If you want to make a difference in a teens life, please contact me to be a part of Middle School Small Groups. Wed nights from 6-6:45 p.m.

In Christ,

Al
