I am excited about the renovation project underway in the educational building.  The demolition part is complete and work is ready to begin on the next phase.   In just a few short weeks our upstairs will be better equipped to handle the Sunday School classes and new members.  God is blessing and this is one tangible way of seeing this.

Another way to show God=s blessings is to share His blessings.  I want to challenge each of us to give more this summer than we ever have before to the work of the Lord.  Even though economic times might be soft, God is still on His Throne, still blessing, still expecting us to be a blessing.

I would like to see us pay off the cost of this project, $240,000, by the end of the project.  Impossible you say!  It is not impossible if we as a congregation give what God has already provided for this work.  The money is there, we just have to let go of it.  Will you help do this?  I will.

I look forward to seeing each of you this Sunday Morning.

Mama, tell me I'm a good person, the boy asked. He had a need and wanted reassurance that he was OK from someone who knew him best. We all need that from time to time. Who have you reassured today?

Got a ticket going home, wish the officer had known what a day I've just been through....

It is sometimes amazing when God=s sense of humor and His presence with us is seen. Tina=s solo last Sunday morning was evident of that fact. We sometimes fly through our busy lives, trying to make a difference for God as we seek His will. Then, we find ourselves laughing out loud (or crying) when in an unseen way, God interjects Himself directly into our experience to say, Hey, I'm right here, beside you. Don't be afraid. I=ve got everything under control. Keep up the good work.

A-ha moments like these tend to give us a warm feeling inside, reassuring us that we=re right where God wants us to be at that very moment. Keep open to these moments where you sense God=s presence and you=ll find them multiplying.

PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION

The program with the patriotic musical: There Is Freedom Here, along with the orchestra, soloists, color guard, and recognition of our veterans will be exciting.   Our PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION will strive to point our moral compass back to God. Bring a carload of folks to the 6 PM PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION at the Coliseum on Sunday, June 28.

Well, summer is here and everyone is coming and going. To the beach and to the mountains we go. Mission trips, summer camps are all on the calendar but let us not forget our own mission here at home.  I agree, we all need vacations. But I must remind myself that the work of the church goes on even through the summer and that the work is done mostly through our Sunday School. The growth of God=s kingdom is seen through Sunday School. Sunday School is for ALL of God=s children no matter what your age.

It=s also exciting! Meeting new people and helping them in their own journey is what it is all about. There is a quote I read last week that says it better than I can. AChristians can learn through good instruction, but they really cannot grow if they remain uninvolved in ministry and service.@ So, get involved in the ministries and service areas here at First Baptist Church. Believe me, you=ll be glad you did!

PowerPlant

When you receive this we will already be home, and we have had a great time so far. We are doing a lot of handing out flyers for a church plant and just trying to make contacts in a neighborhood that the church is just now moving into. We are also doing a Backyard Bible School and our numbers are increasing each day. The kids and adults got to see church done in a different way and they also began to realize the challenges and hardships that it takes to do ministry in today's society. Thank you for your prayers. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you soon.

Wednesday Night

We will start back regular Wednesday nights this coming week. Thank you to Brian O'Mara for handling the study last week. We will be meeting at Hope Toole's house this Wednesday for our fellowship time after Bible study.

Next Chapter

I really missed being a part of the Next Chapter last week, but I hear it was awesome. This week we will continue our study and I will be bringing the message. Hope to see y'all there.

In Christ,

  Al
