The Builder

July 29, 2009

What a great group of AMinisters@ we have at First Baptist Church.  Thank you for your support of the Wallace family at this time and for the way you as a congregation continue to blend as a family.  Special thanks to Rev. Earl Barron for his filling in for me Sunday,  in and out of the pulpit, and for his compassionate heart.

This Sunday will be another great day of the Lord at First Baptist.  We will begin the service with a Parent/Child dedication time.  This will be an exciting time to share in the life of a family as they present their children before the Lord and dedicate themselves to nurturing the child in the ways of the Lord.

At the close of the morning services you will be asked to fill out a ballot for new deacons.  The Deacon Selection Committee will present six names of individuals that meet the Biblical qualifications for Deacon and the church=s requirements.  You may vote for all of the individuals or for any number listed.  The Deacon Selection Committee will tabulate the ballots and report the results as soon as possible.  Let me take this time to personally thank the committee for their hard work.

Let=s not forget to pray for our students, faculty and administration that will be returning to the schools this week.  We are blessed to have strong Christian leadership in our community.  We can help keep them strong with our prayers.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

Paul

I've Heard it Said.......

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,@ and each of us has seen countless examples of how this old adage has effected our lives in the past.

A good farmer does his best to prepare the soil, sometimes looking years ahead to the type of crop he wants to harvest. And his early choices often can predict the outcome of his labors.

A good builder invests in a site plan which may involve soil testing to assure that the solid foundation he pours will last for many years to come.

A good physician will tell you that prenatal vitamins and a good diet in the life of an expectant mother goes a long way in predicting the health and well-being of her newborn child.

A good student prepares for his/her career choice many years before they even set foot in the college or trade school that will further train them for their lifelong choice of vocation.

Parents here at First Baptist Church have a new opportunity to help their children become all that they can be. Among the many opportunities for growth offered for our children, let me encourage each parent and grand-parent to involve their child/grand child in the offerings that our Music Ministry affords you.

Our Children=s Choirs begin their new year of teaching and training our children to enjoy music, to praise God and to grow to their potential spiritually. Bring your child to the graded choir of your choice and reap the benefits for years to come.
