July 22, 2009

Thank You, Spence Salter and Tammi Godwin for your help with the music last Sunday.  It is great to know that we have volunteers to step in to help when needed.

 I apologize for the confusion over last weeks article.  I was so excited about being in a wedding this weekend that I gave my article a week early.  I will be at a wedding in North East Tennessee this weekend and Rev. Earl Barron will be filling the pulpit for me.  Thanks in advance to Earl and join with me in praying for him this week.

 There will be a PARENT/CHILD DEDICATION

SERVICE on Sunday morning August 2.  All families wishing to participate in this event need to contact the church office.  This will be a great day of celebration.

 You should have received an important letter concerning the renovation project of the Educational Building.  Don=t throw it away. Use it as a prayer guide for the next month. Then on Sept. 13, High Attendance Day (Tailgate Party) we will gather for the rejoicing of what God is doing.

 I praise God for each of you and look forward to seeing you in two weeks.

 Paul

Last week=s poem, Christ Has No Hands But Ours, by Annie Johnson Flint  (1862‑1932), has stirred me to consider the following:

What is the work of Christ today and how can my hands help to accomplish it?

 Christ is working His purpose out in more ways than our finite minds can conceive. He came to seek and to save that which was lost;

Hands labor daily to share the good news of salvation to the lost on every continent.

Hands hold microphones to broadcast good news in storefront churches, car roof speakers, testimony tapes and scripture CD=s, radio and television broadcasts that span the globe. Hands labor daily sharing a cup of cold water in Jesus= name, digging wells so that villagers may drink freely.

Hands labor daily to feed the hungry in Jesus= name; food is purchased, donated, stored and delivered to the needy, the famine stricken, the helpless.

Hands labor daily to provide shelter to protect a family from the heat of the sun and the cold of winter. Hands construct and rebuild homes destroyed in natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.

Hands labor daily to provide comfort to those too sick or ill to care for themselves. Doctors, nurses, therapists, dieticians, Pink Ladies and volunteers make a difference for thousands. Even care givers need a helping hand.

Hands labor daily to teach us. Our parents, mentors, teachers in schools and colleges, and even our Sunday School teachers labor each day to help teach us.

How can your hands be used for Christ?

Pick one.   Or find another one.   Just do it!
