The church voted this past Sunday to elect the six  men to serve on the Deacon Body for the next three years.  Darren Deal, David Helms, Bo Jones, Rick Ragan, Dewey Robinson, and Pete Stephens have agreed to serve.  Thank you church and thank  you men for continuing the great ministry God has placed before us.

I am very excited about this Sunday evening.  Over this past summer our church has been involved in mission activities in Bainbridge and Decatur County, Savannah, Honduras, and Mali, Africa.  Reports will be presented this Sunday from each of these groups.

I am excited that we are following the Acts 1:8 mandate to go unto all the world with the gospel.  As many as this has involved it does not take the place of each individual going Anext door@ to tell someone about Jesus.

The mandate is not for others to go, or for us to provide the means that we should not have to  go, but, it is for every one of us to be a witness for Jesus here and around the world.

Make you plans to be in all the services this week.  I will look forward to seeing you.

Preteen Ministry Kickoff

Our newly formed Preteen Ministry Team has met and is planning a kickoff event on Saturday August 22 from 3:00 till 5:00 p.m. at the church. This will be a tailgate party with all the fixings for the BHS vs Cairo football game.

After the party we will then all load up to go to the football game together.

This is going to be an exciting new ministry with all new ministry ideas and materials. The new Sunday School material is a new interactive and creative way for teens to stay in touch with one and other and to study their lessons before Sunday morning. There will be also a new location for this ministry. The upcoming 5th and 6th graders will be meeting for Sunday School and other times in the new renovated portion of the Education Building. So you see, there is a lot to look forward to as a new APreteen@ here at FBC.
