And The Pastor Said.....

I had another first this week at the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge.  I attended our finance committee meeting, which I do every month, and came out with a feeling of revival.

That was definitely a first for me.  One doesn=t usually attend a committee meeting that ends with testimonies and praise but this one did.

This revival DID NOT happen because of paying off an indebtedness, that hasn=t been done.  There was NO celebrating a large gift for there WAS NOT A LARGE GIFT.  Actually, the Finance Committee reviewed our giving and our budget and saw that although we have given more than we have spent, we are still behind on our budget.  And, we have made an interest payment on our indebtedness but we have not paid this off yet.

Why the revival?  It was because each

member of the committee began to share their testimonies of tithing and how God had blessed them for their faithfulness.  Several shared how they had gotten into financial trouble when they used the tithe for other purposes.  Each agreed that if we all tithed finances of the church would be abundant. We read together the third chapter of Malachi and prayed for the faithfulness of God=s people in their giving.

God has given us a fertile field to work here in Bainbridge and called us to work around the world.  He had blessed us with talent and intelligence.  These He expects us to use to Honor Him.  Even in these bad economic times He continues to bless us with an abundance.  For this He expects us to, indeed requires us, to tithe.

This Sunday bring ye all the tithes into the store house and see if God doesn=t bless you and us for doing so.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

A community band of more than 50 members will play stirring marches and American music. We will not have services at First Baptist Church that night, enabling each of you to attend. VBS NEWS

This years= Vacation Bible School has been a wonderful time of celebration and excitement. Each day as I watched the boys and girls enter the doors of this church, I knew God had me in the right ministry. The smiles, hugs, and words I got from them were just AWESOME. God reminded me each day just how precious we all are to Him; adult and child!  God does care about us all!

Many may not know what goes on behind the scenes of a working VBS. Much planning, scheduling, and contacting of many people who take their time out of the summer to help in this very important time in the ministry of First Baptist. I do not do this all by myself. The real credit goes to the VBS Coordinators: Hope Toole and Tammy Deal. Their hard work in getting it all together pays off in the end. And, of course, we=re proud of those who work, teaching and leading the children in Bible study, missions, music, crafts, snacks and recreation.  I thank each of you, from the bottom of my heart,  for your dedication to the children who enter these buildings. And to all Praise and Glory we give to GOD!

Important Information

Instead of having another meeting, I will be sending out to each student a letter with all the information needed for the week of camp. Also, within the letter will be information regarding all forms that have or have not been turned in. Once you get this letter if you have any other question regarding the camp you may contact me at 416-7293.

                                   VBS

Thank you to all the youth workers who helped with VBS.  The kids love you and it is much appreciated the help that you provide to the adult workers.

MissionLab

We will be leaving Sunday morning for Missionlab.  We will meet at the church at 8 a.m. to pack the vans.  We will then attend the 8:30 worship service and leave immediately following.  We will be home the following Saturday between 3 and 4 in the afternoon.

Also, a reminder that girls need to bring only one piece bathing suits or dark colored t-shirts to go over two pieces.  Everybody needs to have tennis shoes for the work sites that we will be at during the day.

                           Atlanta Game

We will be going to an Atlanta Braves baseball game on July 16th and will be returning on July 17th.  The cost for the trip is $25 and this includes the game and the hotel costs.  Sign-ups are in the youth room and are only for a short time, so sign-up as soon as possible.

No Youth

Because of Missionlab, there will be no youth services at the church next Wed.  We will start back on July 7th.
